Old wood rustic / Reclaimed teak furniture

At a time when global forests are under increasing deforestation pressures, reclaiming wood is an environmentally responsible practise that saves forests by reducing pressure on them to supply timber. For instance a disused warehouse with ten thousand board feet of reclaimable timber can offset the need to harvest ten acres of forest.

The beautiful reclaimed teak which we select for our designs is usually between ninety and seventy years old. At this age we have discovered that this superbly seasoned wood has the best possible patina and yet is still full of the rich teak oil which makes it so strong and stable. There are also many aesthetic advantages in using this special wood; a mellow golden colour, beautifully seasoned grain and sensitive delicate smell being among its main attractions.

We use reclaimed teak wood for following reasons:

After seasoning for almost 10-50 years, teak timbers have a beautiful mature grain and color. The oil in the timber have mellowed to a rich golden color.
The reclaimed timber become incredibly stable and capable of withstanding fluctuations in temperature / weather.
We reclaim large beams only, to make sure that ther is a very high concentration of natural oils within each timbers. the presence of these rich oils make teak timbers extremely dense and strong.
By using the reclaimed teak timber, we decrease the need to cut down living teak trees and preserve natural forests.
